Wife Of Unpaid Kogi Civil Servant Who Killed Himself Tells Her Own Side of The Story

Mrs. Grace Soje, the wife of the Kogi State civil servant, who committed suicide on October 16, 2017, says her husband’s death remains a shock.

The widow told Sunday PUNCH that her husband, Edward Soje, showed no signs of depression the last time she saw him alive.

Mrs. Soje, who is a federal civil servant, was still in a private hospital in Abuja as on Saturday. According to her, Although her husband took his life on October 16, it was learnt that she was only informed of his death on October 31.

Still struggling to come to terms with reality, the widow said, “I learnt of my husband’s death on Tuesday. I was not even informed because my phone was taken away from me after I gave birth. But on that particular day, I saw my phone lying around and it was switched off. So, I turned it on and saw my brother-in-law’s text message in which he said he had gone to pick up his dead brother’s corpse. It was at that point that I started screaming that they have killed my husband.”

Mrs. Soje stated, “We did the naming ceremony at the hospital on October 14 and there was no quarrel whatsoever. We only asked him to go home and rest because the hospital was filled up and the nurses were driving people away. So, I told him to go home to rest and return in the evening so that we could plan how to move our car and some other things from Kogi. That was the last time I saw him.

On Sunday, we waited for him to come but we never saw him and his phone was switched off. So, my cousin, who was staying with me, went to the house but didn’t tell me anything but she told my elder sister what she saw in the house such as the cardboard where he left a message. He said God would preserve me and that I should take care of the boys. It was on Monday that my elder sister called me to ask if I saw what was in the house but nobody was explaining anything to me.

Mrs. Soje said her husband never showed any signs of depression, adding that on the day the triplets were born, he was rolling on the hospital floor thanking God for finally giving them children after over 17 years. We never quarrelled. In fact, my blood pressure was high and he was the one who calmed me down and asked me to rest and keep my phone aside. He never gave me any sign of anything; nothing!

On Tuesday, his nephew, who lives with us and happens to be a civil defence official, called me, saying that my husband came to his house and was saying some things that he didn’t understand. He said my husband was complaining that he didn’t own any property and that all the properties belonged to me. So, I asked him, when my husband was saying all these things, why didn’t he take him to relatives’ house or lock him somewhere?

When asked if it was true that Edward committed suicide because he had not been paid by the Kogi State Government for almost a year, Grace said she could not say.

The widow said, “I don’t know if it is because of salary because I am not a Kogi State civil servant. After all, he has not been collecting salary since January but we have been managing my own salary. So, I don’t know.”

Making a concerned plea to the Federal Government, the National Assembly, the Kogi State Government and well-meaning Nigerians, Mrs. Soje explained that the hospital bill had run into millions of naira and she needed assistance.

Nigerians should assist me so that I can take good care of the children. We have not been able to settle the hospital bill. We have been given a bill of N1, 627,000 by the hospital but one of the triplets had to be taken to the National Hospital for a surgery and I don’t know how much his own bill is right now.

When asked if she suspected foul play in her husband’s death, she said, “I leave everything to God.”

Veteran Actor Sadiq Daba Interview +Talks About His prostrate Cancer And Leukamiea

In an industry where the term ‘veteran’ has been Abused and/or over used, one man that truly merits that title is actor, Sadiq Daba. Sadly, he is not having the best of times and enjoying the acclaim that a true veteran deserves.

Daba has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. This is coming barely months after the actor was hospitalised for months due to leukemia.

Sunday Scoop put a call through to him during the week to find out how he was doing. “Right now, I have a catheter inserted into my joystick to ease the movement of urine. I have been in and out of hospitals for a while now. Next week, I also have to go for a biopsy to determine if I would need to do a major surgery. I have leukemia to battle with, then this prostate issue comes in. The pain is just too much for me,” he stated, explaining his journey so far.

“I have been receiving treatment at LASUTH and OAUTH and the doctors have been wonderful. I was told that one of the side effects of the surgery is that my testicles would have to be removed. That means I would be castrated and I don’t think I want that. The other option is that I would have to take injections that would cost N150,000 every two months, and I have to take it for about two years. You can imagine what the total cost would be,” he added.

On whether members of the movie industry have been helpful to him, Daba said, “A few of my colleagues have been wonderful; they have tried to help as much as they can. The DGs of NTA, Censors Board, and the president of PMAN have also been of help. I can’t start carrying bowls and be going all about the place begging for money. I believe I have paid my dues.

For those who know about my situation and want to help, they are welcome. Everything that I have to do is tied to money. There is no drug that is cheap.”

Inspector General Of Police files N5bn Libel Suit Against Misau

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, has filed a libel suit against the Senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, Hamman Misau, demanding N5bn as compensation for alleged defamation.

The Federal Government, through the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, had earlier preferred criminal charges against Misau for allegedly spreading “injurious falsehood” against the IGP and the Nigeria Police Force.

Both the civil case filed by the IGP himself and the criminal charges instituted by the AGF office stemmed from allegations of corruption and unethical practices leveled by Misau against the IGP in the electronic and print media
While the civil case has been assigned to Justice Jude Okeke of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, the criminal case is before the Chief Judge of the court, Justice Ishaq Bello.

Justice Okeke has fixed for November 13, 2017 for hearing in the case.
In the suit filed by his counsel, Marcel Oru, the IGP prayed the court to award cumulative aggravated and exemplary damages of N5bn against the lawmaker.

The soldier noted that Aliyu did not desert the army, adding that the case of the injured soldier was one among many others who were injured at the battlefield and given little or no attention.

He said, “Your Excellency, corruption in the army is real and it is killing us. While we expect to die in the hands of the enemy, we don’t expect to die in the hands of the army, due to corruption and criminal negligence

South?African pastor, Penuel Mnguni feeds members of his church with cockroach and poisonous flower

According to the posts it reads;
"You shall drink poison and it will not harm you"
As the man of God demonstrated this mystery of the cockroach turning into cheese and spice, Apostle Tompane Eans from Limpopo came forward saying he also wants to eat. The man of God then took a poisonous flower and prayed upon it and gave it to Apostle Tompane to eat. As Apostle Tompane ate, he said it tastes like no ordinary food, he enjoyed it to the extent that he asked to eat the whole flower alone and finished it.
The Prophet of God declared that whatever he came for, God has granted him. After partaking from above, to show that he ate what not ordinary but from Christ he was given time to demonstrate the power of God by stretching his hands to some congregants and the power of God moved greatly as some fell down and when he passed near the cogregants some also fell under the power of the all mighty God.
